After the judicial\u00a0decision\u00a0made by US\u00a0in 2016, an investigation was opened by Israel, and as in the American case, Teva admitted making illegal payments to government officials.\nThanks to these illegal payments, between 2007-2012 the company netted a profit of over $221 million.\nThe state attorney signed up the agreement requested Teva to pay the\u00a0whole amount within two months. In his report, the public prosecutor took into account the Teva&#8217;s current financial troubles and its status as a major employer\u00a0in Israel among other reasons, to make a decision.\nIndeed the company debt was estimated at $32 billion.\u00a0A result due\u00a0to its 2016 Actavis acquisition, and\u00a0to a lack of revenues\u00a0in consequence of the declining generic drug market.\nTeva launched last December an extensive reorganization plan that will\u00a0lay off 14.000 employees around the world.
