Such an observation was underlying the draft of an integration project, characterised by the creation of the Union for The Mediterranean\u00a0(UpM) in 2008.\nDriven by the need to forecast the future\u2019s challenges, the Association of the Mediterranean Transmission System Operators for electricity, operating the High Voltage Transmission Networks of 18 Mediterranean Countries (Med-Tso), is designing the electrical grid of tomorrow.\nSupported by the European Union (EU), this international collective plans to enhance 14 projects for a global investment of 16 billion euros, for the construction of 2,200 km of new lines and 840 km of lines reconductoring, to connect over the next few years countries overlooking the Mediterranean in one sustainable electrical network able to provide energy to some 500 million consumers.\nthe Project started in 2015 and has pursued the main objective to promote the progressive integration of electricity Power system of the two Mediterranean shores.
