Reviving the 1989 Taif agreement, the president of the Lebanese Republic is a Christian Maronite, the prime minister a Sunni Muslim and the speaker of parliament a Shia Muslim.\nThe parliament is formed by 128 seats divided between 68 to the Christians and 68 to the Muslims. 583 candidates are eligible for the 2018 legislative vote. 77 lists are registered over 15 districts within the country.\nThis year, the list is imposed to the people meaning that citizen cannot choose another candidate from their favourite party than the one written on the paper. Indeed the voters first decide the party they would like to be elected and then but this is not mandatory they can formulate the name of their favourite candidate representing the best the party. The sole condition is to write a name of a candidate living in the same district than the voter.\nThe\u00a0Lebanese expatriates\u00a0have already voted: those living within the Arab World in the 27th of April and those outside of the Arab World on the 29th of April. The outcomes are of course not yet being known.\n82 965 Lebanese expats were allowed to vote this year: the first in the country\u2019s history after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil that tweeted it.\nDiscover out our latest videos about the economic news in Lebanon :\u00a0\n\n\n","author":75,"featured_media":5148,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","template":"","tags":[1201,5754,5764,5761,2961,5750,5759,5762],"location":[5628],"class_list":["post-28103","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-agenda","tag-business","tag-communities","tag-decision-makers","tag-institutions","tag-news","tag-politics","tag-trending","location-lebanon"],"short_url":"","have_related_news":null,"chapo":"The 6th of May, Lebanese people are invited to vote for 2018 legislative elections: the first one for nine years. 3,6 million of citizen are registered on the official list said the government.
