As stated by a press release, the United Nations designated 5 June as World Environmental Day. The aim is to raise worldwide awareness about environmental challenges.\nSince it began in\u00a01974,\u00a0\u201cit has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over\u00a0100 countries”.\u00a0People are invited to act to\u00a0protect the environment. So many initiatives can be done locally, nationally or globally!\nAnd the theme for 2018 is\u2026 \u201cBeat Plastic Pollution\u201d! As a matter of fact, each year, at least\u00a08 million\u00a0tonnes of plastic end up in the oceans, the equivalent of a full garbage truck every minute. Therefore, the celebration of this day encourages government, industry, individuals to come together, and look for alternatives to reduce the use of plastic pollution, which is affecting our earth, our lives, and health!\nIn that spirit, UN Environment launched a game, entitled #BeatPlasticTag to enhance responsible behaviour, with the slogan \u201cIf you can\u2019t reuse it, refuse it!\u201d \u00a0This will only take\u00a030 seconds\u00a0of your time!\nHere how it goes: you choose a plastic you are ready to no longer use, then you take a selfie showing yourself with the reusable solution that you are ready to undertake. Afterwards, share your selfie on social media. But that\u2019s not all!
