During this visit, the Abidjan-Cairo axis was strengthened by the signing of several agreements. \nAccording to the programme transmitted to APA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi met on Thursday with Alassane Ouattara following the signing of cooperation agreements. The establishment of diplomatic relations between these two countries dates back to 7 December 1973. “We have signed agreements in the areas of tourism, health and culture,” said Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi. For him, the strategic place occupied by Ivory Coast on the political and economic levels of Africa and the West African sub-region in particular, requires more attention.\nThe Arab Contractors group is currently the most active Egyptian company in Ivory Coast\nEconomically, trade flows between the two countries remain weak, the two Presidents acknowledged. Trade amounts to barely 31 billion CFA francs, and even shows a slight decrease (32.5 billion CFA francs in 2017) not exceeding 100 million euros. “These figures challenge us and encourage us to strengthen bilateral relations between our countries, through partnership and dynamic cooperation, which are factors in economic and social development,” the Ivorian President stressed. \nIn Ivory Coast, the Arab Contractors group is currently the most active Egyptian company.
