{"id":30069,"date":"2020-10-08T10:48:30","date_gmt":"2020-10-08T08:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ecomnewsmed.com\/?post_type=news&p=30069"},"modified":"2020-10-08T10:49:09","modified_gmt":"2020-10-08T08:49:09","slug":"egypt-moves-closer-to-fuel-self-sufficiency-with-new-refinery","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.ecomnewsmed.com\/en\/2020\/10\/08\/egypt-moves-closer-to-fuel-self-sufficiency-with-new-refinery\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt moves closer to fuel self-sufficiency with new refinery"},"content":"\n \n \n \nAccording to a press release issued on September 27th by the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi inaugurated an oil refinery valued at 4.3 billion dollars in Mostorod, east of Cairo.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \nThe project is part of an ongoing government program to increase the country’s oil production and achieve self-sufficiency through the establishment of more modern refining plants. The said project is led by the Egyptian Refining Company (ERC) and will produce around 4.7 million tonnes of oil per year.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \nTarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, said Mostorod region provides 22 % of Egypt\u2019s refining capacity.
