As a reminder, Syria, Jordan and Egypt agreed in September, with the help of the World Bank, on a memorandum to help the energy crisis in Lebanon.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nUnder the agreement, Lebanon will be supplied with natural gas from Egypt via a gas pipeline that passes through Jordan and Syria. A supply of electricity produced in Jordan is also planned for Lebanon.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nAlready last week, the Lebanese authorities had discussions with those in Jordan. It was about taking stock of the energy crisis the country has been going through since the explosion in August 2020 at the port of Beirut, which damaged supply circuits and pushed up prices.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nNote that Hezbollah in Lebanon has said it will in turn help facilitate fuel shipments from Iran to Lebanon to help fill fuel shortages.
