It carries around 2.5 million passengers per day between El-Marg and Helwan.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nThe improvements targeted by this contract are part of the Egyptian government\u2019s strategy to increase and improve the capacity of public transport, as well as the passenger experience.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \n\u201cWe are honored to play a role in the development and modernization of the Egyptian urban network and we are grateful for the confidence that the National Tunnel Authority places in Alstom&#8217;s Metropolis solution. It is a proven and technologically advanced platform. With a fleet of around 495 Metropolis cars, more and more residents will be able to get around safely and comfortably, every day. We thank Kamel El-Wazir, Egyptian Minister of Transport, the National Tunnel Authority, the French authorities and all those who made this project possible for the good of the Egyptian people, \u201ddeclared Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Chairman and CEO from Alstom.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nA state-of-the-art metro, the Metropolis will bring greater comfort to the inhabitants of Cairo and to tourists. Its interior layout is adapted to the specific requirements of the line and designed to maximize train capacity while improving comfort, accessibility and passenger flow. It has wide corridors and a space reserved for women.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nDuring peak hours, each train will be able to carry 2,580 passengers.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nThanks to its eco-design, its energy efficiency is improved and it is 98% recyclable. Finally, Alstom&#8217;s proposal includes a unique design that reflects the history and culture of Cairo.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nIntegrated digital solutions will enable real-time passenger information, dynamic route maps, video displays as well as video surveillance. Also included is Alstom&#8217;s state-of-the-art condition and predictive maintenance solution known as HealthHub.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nMaintenance work will be carried out at the Cairo depot and managed locally, creating long-term employment opportunities. A training and development plan will be implemented in partnership with the Egyptian Company for Metros (ECM), the operator and maintainer of line 1.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nThe Metropolis metro will be designed and manufactured in France, at the Alstom site in Valenciennes Petite-For\u00eat.
