The announcement was made on Sunday, February 20, via a press release posted on the facebook page of the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \nThis funding, which will be deployed through UNICEF, aims to \u201cexpand the reach of vaccination against covid-19\u201d, through improved storage and vaccine efficiency. Clearly, “the project aims to fill the gaps in terms of logistical performance and storage capacity of the country’s health system, within the framework of the extension of vaccinations”.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \nEventually, an \u201cefficient\u201d storage network will be set up at 500 vaccination sites, and improved vaccine safety during storage and transport. In addition, almost 2,000 health personnel will also see their capacities strengthened. The aim is to \u201cstrengthen public confidence in the safety and effectiveness of anti-covid-19 vaccines\u201d.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \nThe initiative is part of supporting the Egyptian government in the implementation of its National Deployment and Vaccination Plan (NDVP). Cairo is indeed seeking to have 70 million people vaccinated by the end of the year, thanks in particular to this program.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \nIt should be recalled that since last year, Egypt has been engaged in the production of vaccines against covid-19, intended for its domestic market as well as for the sub-regional market. As part of the fight against covid-19, Egypt has implemented a local vaccine manufacturing strategy, in order to meet the demands of its domestic market and the continental market.
