{"id":38581,"date":"2022-06-16T07:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-16T05:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ecomnewsmed.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=38581"},"modified":"2022-06-15T11:33:43","modified_gmt":"2022-06-15T09:33:43","slug":"morocco-the-moroccan-economy-grew-by-7-9-in-2021-after-a-deep-recession-of-7-2-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.ecomnewsmed.com\/en\/2022\/06\/16\/morocco-the-moroccan-economy-grew-by-7-9-in-2021-after-a-deep-recession-of-7-2-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Morocco: The Moroccan economy grew by 7.9% in 2021, after a deep recession of 7.2% in 2020"},"content":"\n  \n    \n      \nThe Moroccan economy recorded growth of 7.9% in 2021, after a deep recession of 7.2% in 2020 mainly due to the health crisis, according to data published on Sunday June 5 by the High Commission for Planning ( HCP), the national body for economic planning in the Cherifian kingdom.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nThe economic rebound was mainly driven by a 17.8% increase in agricultural activity and 6.6% increase in non-agricultural activities, the HCP said, stressing that this growth was achieved in the context of a &#8220;high inflation and an aggravation of the national economy&#8217;s need for financing&#8220;.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nAccording to the indicators, the excellent performance of the primary sector over the past year can be explained by a 17.8% increase in agricultural activity, thanks in particular to a good cereal campaign, and a 12.7% increase in fishing activity.\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nThe added value of industrial activity increased by 6.8%, thanks to the &#8220;good performance&#8221; of the building &amp; public works sectors (+10.7%), electricity, gas, water, sanitation and waste (+6.5%) and manufacturing industries (+6.1%).\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nThe value added of the services sector, for its part, posted an increase of 6.4%, thanks in particular to the increase in activities in accommodation and catering (+31.6%) and transport and warehousing ( +15.2%).\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nThe HCP also clarified that Morocco&#8217;s gross domestic product (GDP) recorded at current prices a sharp increase of 11.4% in 2021 against a drop of 7.1% a year earlier.\n\n    \n  \n\n","author":114,"featured_media":32073,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","tags":[5774,6100,6389,5766,5751,5798,5807,5834,5815,6554,5843,5794],"location":[5525],"class_list":["post-38581","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-agriculture","tag-cereals","tag-crisis","tag-economic-analysis","tag-economy","tag-electricity","tag-gas","tag-health","tag-industry","tag-manufacture","tag-transport","tag-water","location-morocco"],"short_url":"https:\/\/bit.ly\/39m52EY","have_related_news":"done","chapo":"<p class=\"p1\">The Moroccan economy has regained color after the ebb of covid-19.
