The two countries signed this Tuesday, November 8 an agreement for the implementation of the project, on the sidelines of the COP27 which is currently taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \nThe project will be implemented by the Emirati company Masdar and the Egyptian companies Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities. It will develop a wind farm with a capacity of 10 GW, which would produce 47,790 GWh of clean energy per year and offset 23.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, or about 9% of current emissions from CO2 from Egypt.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n“With this agreement to develop our largest project, Masdar is proud to strengthen its contribution to Egypt’s renewable energy goals,” said Mohamed Jameel al-Ramahi, CEO of Masdar.\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \nThe announcement comes as African countries seek to put pressure on Western countries to obtain the funding promised to fight against climate change of which they are the weakest contributors, but the first impacted.
