The Annual inflation is rising again in Morocco to reach a 0, 2 %. It has increased to 0, 6 % in October instead of 0, 4 in September, the High Planning Authority reported on November 22nd.
Though structural measures have been introduced by the government in order to improve the financial situation in Morocco in 2017, the inflation remains its thorn.
As a consequence to the prudent fiscal policy implemented by the administration of Prime Minister Saad-Eddine Al-Othmani, Fiscal deficit was reduced. The reforms also lead to a stabilisation of the public debt around 65% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The good news is that annual food inflation dropped to 0, 2 % in October from 0.7% in the previous month. However, non-food price inflation stood at 1, 3 % in the 12 months to September.
The bad one is that the effects of this phenomenon are already coming. In fact, October inflation level’s is having a strong impact on Tourism. The competent agency registered a 3, 2% increase in the costs of hotels and restaurants.
