Saudi Crown Mohamed Bin Salman begin a three days trip in Egypt. His first official trip since being designated at the powerful rôle last June.

MBS visit the Egyptian Saint Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral

He chooses Egypt as a first destination. The new mysterious Saudi Crown Mohamed Bin Salman, nicknamed MBS, was welcomed by Egyptian president Abdul Fattah Al Sissi in Cairo airport. This visit reflects the importance of Egypt in Saudi diplomacy.

The two leaders MBS and Al Sissi are expected to engage in “intensive talking the recent developments in the region”  said Ambassador Bassam Radi, the official spokesman of the Egyptian Presidency to Egypt Today.

We can imagine that imagine that Syria, Yemen, and Iran, the regional opponent of the Saudi, are the main subjects.

But not only! The Saudis would like to strengthen their presence in Egypt with investments, and this should have the support of Egyptian authorities. Indeed as let it know Bassam Radi  “Bilateral economic relations will top the agenda of both leaders”.

MBS visit comes just after Egypt’s top court upheld a deal to transfer two Red Sea islands to Saudi Arabia.

The three-day visit to Egypt will be followed by a trip to London where MBS will meet with Prime Minister Theresa May, then the Saudi Crown will flight to the United States to meet with U.S President Donald Trump.
