From the 2nd of August to the 31st of October, The Suzanne Dellal centre is welcoming 12 troops of dancers in Neve Tzedek. The Israeli dance scene is often considered as one of the best in the world.

The Neve Tzedek festival has started and it is about to welcome the top troops around the world : here is just a selection :

The Batsheva Contemporary Dance Troop who was founded by well know Martha Graham is now lead by Ohad Naharin who has invented the emergent « Gaga » choreography. The Gaga style is focusing on body articulation and small gestures with no mirrors during rehearsals in order for dancers to feel the movement instead of seeing it.

But the Suzanne Dellal studio will also welcome 12 international troops from Spain, Turkey, Germany, China, Hong-Kong, Hungary, Belgium, Sweden and Ukraine. Among the performers the Jerusalem Ballet, the Compas Flamenco or Inbal Pinto will be present on stage.

The goal is to bring various artists from different background to create “something modern and ethnic” said the Suzanne Dellal residence manager.

The eclectic festival succeeds to gather artists from ballet to contemporary styles with flamenco and hip-hop. But they do have something in common: they all have embraced a quest for aesthetic beauty.
