Two Chinese public companies have signed a 1,2 billion dollars contract with Cairo. The railways will be used inside the Egyptian capital for public transportation purpose.

The Ramses station : probably the most famous train station in Cairo, Egypt.

Despite a 12% decline into trade exchanges between Egypt and China, the Asian leader keeps investing on Egyptian infrastructures. 11,3 billions dollars gap were registered this years compared to 2016. However Egypt remains the third African trade partner for China.

The National Authority for Tunnel (NAT), the Egyptian company in charge of the underground railways network has announced signature of contracts with the China’s AVIC international and with the China Railways Group. After the press agency Reuters, 66km of railways will be settled into the capital and 11 new train stations will be built. Thanks to the railways technology, trains could reach 120 km per hour speed instead of a current average speed of 80 km per hour. The work could start within 3 months.

The project is a part of the big Egyptian new administrative capital realisation by the Chinese. Indeed the railways must quickly connect Cairo to the new place. The Egyptian authority for transportation are expecting to carry on at least 340 000 people a day. 4 districts would have the opportunity to be connected to the newly built business city as Al-Salam, Obour, Badr and Shorouk.
