With an 851 million dollars incomes in the first 9 months of the year, Tunisia has reached a 21% growth. Tourism in Tunisia is about to win its challenge and reversing two years of low performance due to political instability.

Arrivals have indeed increased by 23% in the same period, which represents 5,4 millions visitors. It is expected to rise by the end of 2017. According to Ridha Saidi, an economic advisor to the prime minister, growth will reach 30% compared to 2016.

These good results are the consequence of a successful strategy enhanced by Tunisia aiming at reaching new commercial targets. Algerians (44% increase) and Russians are the nationalities who are visiting the most Tunisia in 2017. The country is now such an alternative to Egypt which is struggling with security and instability issues since 2015. Moreover, the rate from occidental countries visitors has reached a timid 16% advances.

It is noteworthy to mention that new measures such as attracting major international hotel brands and developing alternative forms of tourism are implemented in the country. This is the commitment made by the tourism actors in order to achieve positive development within the next few years. However, Tunisian government is optimistic about the future of the tourism industry but remains prudent. Previous years the Tunisian tourism has been marked by tumultuous results. However the industry of tourism still represents 8% of the Tunisian GDP.

The sector is a key source of foreign currency coming in the country as well as a great job provider.
