Egypt will receive 4.5 million doses of coronavirus vaccine through the Covax initiative. Egyptian Health Minister Hala Zayed reported on April 15, 2021, as quoted by Egypt Today.

According to the official, the doses made available to the country by the organization facilitating access to the vaccine will arrive by the end of May 2021. In addition, it will benefit from a new delivery of 500,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine, which is part of the agreement signed with China for the acquisition of 20 million doses.

This will complement the 845,400 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine received on April 1, 2021, allowing the Covax initiative to continue its goal in Egypt. Indeed, the organization had announced that 40 million doses of vaccines were planned.

In addition, the land of the Pharaohs recently received 300,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine; which makes about 1.5 million doses actually received.
Note that the vaccination campaign which began in Egypt in January 2021, with Chinese vaccines continues while the authorities indicate that 320,000 people have already been vaccinated.

According to the Minister of Health, nearly 200 centers have been set up to ensure effective immunization of the population.
