Egypt: United Oil & Gas has just announced that it has started drilling the ASX-1X exploration well of its new drilling campaign on the Egyptian license Abu Sennan

The oil company United Oil & Gas has just announced that on August 14 it started drilling the ASX-1X exploration well of its new drilling campaign on the Egyptian license Abu Sennan. This will be the last well of the company’s drilling campaign for 2021.

The new target is located about 7 km north of the producing Al Jahraa field and will test a number of stacked reservoirs. If successful, drilling, testing and completion of the well is expected to take up to 54 days from the date of the start of drilling.

ASX-1X aims for a structure similar to the discovery with primary targets in the C and E reservoirs of Abu Roash and secondary targets in the deeper Bahariya and shallower Khoman formations.

“There is considerable exploration potential in the Abu Sennan license, and we are delighted to actively drill our second exploration well this year to further exploit that potential. We are delighted that the ASX-1X exploration well has been drilled and we look forward to informing shareholders as soon as the well has reached the target reservoirs, ”said Brian Larkin, Managing Director of United Oil & Gas .
