"For a just and lasting solution, there is no other possibility than the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital", hammered the head of the Turkish state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave a speech on September 20 at the United Nations tribune in New York on the occasion of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.

“It is essential to reform the UN, to make it capable of producing solutions for a fairer world order (…) in the name of all humanity”, insisted the Turkish head of state, before d ensure that the refugee crisis is one of humanity’s greatest challenges.

“The refugee crisis cannot be solved by leaving innocent people on their way to a better future to drown or by locking them up in camps.”

Moreover, President Erdogan recalled that peace in the Middle East necessarily requires a two-state solution.

“For a just and lasting solution, there is no other possibility than the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital,” he insisted.

“We are ready to work with those who wish to contribute to the security and prosperity of the region by cooperating with our country rather than with terrorist organizations and tyrants”, he launched before specifying:

“We call on those who are trying to legitimize the PKK (…) to stop, as soon as possible, arming and supporting terrorists”

Regarding the situation between Azerbaijan and Armenia, he said he hoped for a comprehensive peace between these two countries.

“We believe it is possible to sign a comprehensive peace agreement between the two countries,” he said.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan further said: “In the region, those who attempt a show of force, despite their political and military level far below our country, put themselves in a funny situation”, referring to Greece.
