The statistics published by the PCBS on educational choices and the labor market show high unemployment among young people under 30 and a delayed entry into the labor market.
In the West Bank, for the 20-29 year old stratum, it stands at 28% – down, however, it was 35% during the COVID crisis. The unemployment rate is stable for the same category in the Gaza Strip at 74%.
There is a large disparity between the unemployment rates of women and men in all fields of education. The highest unemployment rate among male graduates aged 20-29 in 2022 was among language students (52%), while the highest unemployment rates were observed among female physics and science students social (78%).
In 2022, the commerce and public administration sectors hosted the most students.
Entering the labor market remains a laborious process. Law students are the ones who wait the longest before getting a job, 20 months on average. The weakest period was observed in the trades of architecture, construction and engineering with 13 months of waiting.
