After falling for more than three years, the number of restaurants, bars and cafes increased by 30.6% in 2023 compared to 17.9% in 2019. 233 new brands were inaugurated this year in 11 areas.

However, the total number of restaurants decreased by 25% in Beirut compared to 2019, and the reception capacity decreased by 23.5%.

In 2023, Lebanon has more than 720 Food and Beverage brands compared to 977 in 2019 and 942 in 2018. There are 37 Asian cuisine brands, 102 European cuisine brands, 360 international cuisine brands, 164 Arabic cuisine brands and 72 American cuisine brands.

Downtown Beirut continues to contract with a 71.3% drop in its stores since 2019. The same in Hamra where 68 establishments have closed since 2019 while in Gemmayzé the stores have increased by 55%. in 2023, compared to 46% in Mar Mikhaël and 24% in Sassine.

This recovery is accompanied by a rebound in tourism with a reservation rate close to 100% for Beirut hotels.
