Egypt and the EU continue to expand their cooperation. After development support of more than $797.7 million during the 2014-2020 period, the Union is aiming for a billion dollars in subsidies for the new cooperation period 2021-2027.

The Egyptian government and the European Union (EU) have signed several grant agreements totaling more than $145.6 million to strengthen the country’s development. The announcement was made by the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation via a press release issued on May 9.

The funds are intended to strengthen the sectors of health, administrative reform, environment, rural and community development and governance. The signing of these agreements is part of a 2021-2027 partnership between Cairo and the European organization.

This partnership targets “development in vital sectors, including the transition to the green economy, new and renewable energy projects, and rural development”.

It should be noted that under the previous partnership program between Egypt and the EU (2014-2020), the country of the Pharaohs benefited from aid of nearly 798 million dollars in the areas of economic modernization, energy sustainability and the environment, social development and social protection, governance, strengthening stability and the modern democratic state.

For this, Egypt will benefit from just over 1 billion dollars from the EU to finance its development, by 2027.
