The Libyan Government of National Unity held talks on May 13 with the Saudi authorities on strengthening financial and economic cooperation between the two countries.

This is what emerges from a meeting held in Jeddah between the Minister of Finance of the Government of National Unity, Khaled al-Mabrouk, and his Saudi counterpart, Mohammed Abdullah al-Jadaan, according to a press release from the Libyan Ministry of Finance.

According to the ministry, the Libyan and Saudi ministers discussed “cooperation between the two countries in the economic field“.

The meeting comes “on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group, in which the Libyan Ministry of Finance participates with a high-level delegation led by al-Mabrouk in his capacity as Governor for Libya to the Bank Group Islamic development, indicates the same source.

The Libyan Finance Ministry said that “the meeting focused on real and practical measures that would improve the financial and economic relations between the Libyan state and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and raise the level of consultation and joint coordination with Arab and international financial institutions“.

On Saturday, May 13, the Islamic Development Bank Group concluded its annual meetings in Jeddah, which started on May 10, to discuss the challenges facing member countries.

The annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group, held over 4 days this year, brought together ministers from 57 member countries, senior officials and heads of international organizations.
