The Lebanese Customs introduced a new measure to reduce the time required for the good’s clearance at the port from 16 days to a few hours.
The world of the import-export sector in Lebanon is going through a new innovation. The Customs issued a decision to reduce the clearance of goods at the port from 16 days to only a few hours. It will be brought into force starting from April 30, for imported goods.
The new process is unveiling exporters and importers to get pre-clearance for their goods prior to arrival at the port.
For this purpose, they should submit a detailed statement once they produce a shipping manifest. All data supplied regarding the clearance of goods and the paperwork will be done electronically. After approval, they receive a pre-arrival clearance in order to pay customs fees.
Thanks to this technical innovation Lebanon is expecting to facilitate trade and also help cutting smuggling and fraud.
