Mediterranean Oil Shipping & Transport Co. MEDCO SAL, announced on April 2018 at a press event, the launch of its mobile payment system, MEDCO Pay, in partnership with Areeba. This solution will allow motorists to pay for gas using their smartphones.
From now on, customers will be able to pay for gas with their smartphones. As stated by Executive Bulletin, MEDCO Pay is a QR-based mobile payment solution, allowing customers to pay with their mobile. Digital payment will therefore be effective within the 203 MEDCO and Phoenicia stations throughout Lebanon.
Motorists can use MEDCO Pay within My MEDCO loyalty app, which can be downloaded from Apple Store or Google Pay. Then, they can link it to their Visa or Mastercard issued from any bank. As a result, using MEDCO Pay at any MEDCO station will become a piece of cake!
To complete this project, the leading Lebanese Petroleum Company collaborated with Areeba, an electronic payment technology company licensed by Visa and MasterCard. Driven forward by the innovative approach, Areeba provides solutions and payment services to banks, governments and merchants.
Easy, fast, convenient and secure, this new system “shall meet the consumers’ expectations” declared Michèle Chammas Garzouzi, Chief Innovation Officer and Retail Director at MEDCO. As a matter of fact, clients seem to prefer “staying in the car when filling gas”.
Overall, it appears that dematerialized payment follows its expansion in the Country of Cedars…
