The regulatory authority has launched a call for tenders for the operation and maintenance of the Gabel El-Zeit wind power plant (220 MW) for 5 years. The infrastructure Siemens completed in 2018 cost $ 350 million.

In Egypt, the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) has issued a call for tenders for the operation and maintenance of the Gabel El-Zeit wind farm in the Gulf of Suez.

The infrastructure with a capacity of 220 MW consists of 110 turbines of 2 MW and represents about 1% of the national electric power. It was built by Siemens Gamesa and was inaugurated in 2018. Its installation cost $ 350 million which was mobilized with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica).

This call for tenders follows the abandonment by the NREA of the option of setting up a subsidiary to ensure the operation and maintenance of the plant. Companies interested in the project have until October 11 to submit their proposals. The successful company will operate the wind power plant for a period of 5 years.
