Under the aegis of the United States, which has also announced a withdrawal of Khartoum from its blacklist, the two enemies of yesterday are preparing to accelerate their bilateral cooperation in several areas.

US President Donald Trump just announced an agreement to normalize relations between Israel and Sudan. In a statement to journalists, the US president revealed that negotiations had taken place in recent days in secret in Khartoum and Tel-Aviv.

According to information that has come to light, an Israeli delegation visited Sudan last Wednesday to try to negotiate a peace between the two enemy nations for decades. While details of the meeting were not leaked, Sudanese state television reported that the talks had resulted in an agreement to establish bilateral cooperation in several areas.

“Delegations from Sudan and Israel will meet soon to discuss cooperation in many areas, including agriculture, trade and other important areas,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who spoke in a statement, and thanked the Sudanese leaders and President Trump for this new normalization agreement. And added : “What a great turnaround ! Today Khartoum is saying yes to peace with Israel, yes to recognition of Israel and to normalization with Israel.”

The announcement, which represents another international success for the Trump administration, comes months after authorities in Khartoum ruled out any possibility of making peace with Israel before 2022, following an outcry over rumors of normalizing relations with Tel-Aviv, had provoked in the Arab world.

This week, the National Transitional Council had already agreed to pay $ 335 million to American families victims of terrorism, as compensation, in order to remove the name of Sudan from the blacklist of countries sponsoring terrorism.

While Palestinians already condemn a “political sin”, Sudanese authorities now hope to obtain all the necessary cards to hope to benefit from a substantial support from international donors, who have shunned the country for several years because of of its inscription on the American blacklist.
