After recognizing Morocco's authority over Western Sahara, the US continues to accelerate the restoration of relations between Israel and Morocco. Jared Kushner, adviser to Donald Trump is expected in Rabat, to talk about cooperation.

Jared Kushner, son-in-law and senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, will travel to Rabat on Tuesday on board the first commercial flight between Israel and Morocco. Several US media reported this week, citing sources familiar with the matter.

This move is part of the process of consolidating the rapprochement between the Hebrew state and the Shereefian kingdom, which has undergone a major turning point in recent days under the leadership of the United States.

On December 10, Donald Trump announced to everyone’s surprise that he now recognizes Morocco’s authority over Western Sahara while until then, the global consensus on the conflicts between the two parties was rather in favor of a statu quo.

In return, Morocco decided to strengthen its diplomatic relations with Israel. Days later, several sources confirmed a new deal to sell $ 1 billion in US weapons to Morocco.

As he prepares to return the apron on January 20, Donald Trump considers this thaw in Israeli-Moroccan relations a victory, although there is no indication that this policy will be continued by Joe Biden.

According to information relayed by several media, Jared Kushner, who has been the main spearhead of American policy in the Middle East for several years, is likely to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and could sign bilateral agreements with the Moroccan government.
