The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, welcomed the resistance and the good management of the Turkish economy despite the heavy consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Turkish Head of State, also chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), spoke on January 21 at the enlarged meeting of leaders of local and regional federations of his political movement, in Istanbul.

Erdogan first recalled that, in accordance with the necessary program before the main ordinary congress of his party, 42 regional congresses have been held. There are still 10 regional congresses to do, he said.

For the Turkish leader, the grand national congress of the AK Party will be essential for the electoral goals set before the centenary of the Republic of Turkey, which will be celebrated in 2023.

“The elections of 2023 are essential for our country but also for the world, which is going through a critical period. With the People’s Alliance (formed with the nationalist party MHP), we will emerge victorious from the presidential and legislative elections,” he assured.

The Turkish President then praised the resistance of the Turkish economy to the pandemic.

“Despite the pandemic, we ended 2020 with rather good results in terms of investments and budget management,” he boasted.

He added: “In 2021, we aim to make bigger and more significant progress.”

The Turkish Head of State ended by recalling the determination of his party and his government.

“We will not stop until we finish building the great and mighty Turkey.”
