The Head of State delivered a speech during a ceremony organized in Zonguldak, a city in northern Turkey, on the Black Sea coast, concerning natural gas. "Türkiye sees energy as the key to regional cooperation," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The President recalled that his country has four drillships and two seismic research vessels, specifying that the fourth drillship will be named “Abdulhamid Han“.

Welcoming the works carried out thanks to these vessels, Erdogan reiterated that the gas which was discovered in the Black Sea, in the north of Türkiye 2 years ago, will be made available to the Turkish nation in 2023.

The works will be completed in the first week of November and we will have transferred 10 million m3 of gas to the national distribution system in the first quarter of 2023, President Erdogan said. Production at the Sakarya Gas Site will reach its peak in 2026. We expect a daily gas production capacity of 40 million m3 with 40 wells.

The President added that the gas will be used by households from the first quarter of 2023.

In this context, President Erdogan assured that the struggle will continue until Turkey becomes a country that has solved the problem of “security of energy supply“.

We see energy not as a sphere of tension and conflict, but as the key to regional cooperation,” he concluded.
