Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak have agreed to deepen intelligence sharing and cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Rishi Sunak, who met President Erdogan during the NATO summit in Lithuania’s capital Vilnius, hailed Türkiye’s support for Sweden’s NATO membership and praised President Erdogan for its efforts, the prime minister’s office said in a statement.
The two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring that the UK-Turkey relationship reaches its full potential, building on growing commercial ties and strong defense and security cooperation.” the statement said, adding that “the leaders also agreed to deepen intelligence-sharing and counter-terrorism cooperation.”
The two leaders notably exchanged on the recent visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Türkiye and insisted on the importance of extending the agreement on cereals from the Black Sea.
