The startup nation could be proud to welcome a Mercedes Benz centre to develop here in Tel Aviv their technology.
The first car manufacturer around the world chooses Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel to set up a technological centre. Daimler AG which is a branch of the German Mercedes brand will support the link between the R&D centre in the country and the recent application already developed into the startup nation.
Mercedes Benz has 25 R&D centres around the world, employing 16 000 people into 11 countries. Adi Ofek the CEO of the Tel Aviv Center said to our colleagues from the Times of Israel that his goal is to hire 25 people in 2018, compared to the 15 engineers employed today.
The car industry must face 3 big challenges: car sharing, car’s connectivity and smart cars, and autonomous car solutions for disabled people. This is not the first time that a worldwide brand decides to settle in Tel Aviv like Renault-Nissan, or Peugeot-Citroen for example. Indeed the startup nation is welcoming plenty of R&D centre to develop car technology. So far 1,1 billion dollars has been invested in startups in Israel. Autonomous cars perspectives are the main focus of Mercedes Benz to remain updates into the worldwide technological race.
