Suma Chakrabarti, president of The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) visited the country last two days. During the trip, he recalled his will to continue its support to Morocco.
Morocco has attracted a significant increase in Foreign Investments
From plane to plane, from country to country and with the same energy Suma Chakrabarti the British president of the EBRD travel around North Africa. After Tunisia, he visited Morocco and met with the local authorities.
Together they expressed their satisfaction with their partnership, Suma Chakrabarti reminds the “strategic importance of the country for EBRD”. The president of the European organisation met the head of government Saad Eddine El Othmani, and different ministers.
The north African kingdom authorities and the EBRD agreeing to further enhance the bilateral cooperation.
“We have invested $ 1,9 billion in five years of operations” emphasised President Chakrabarti. As a trusted sign, the EBRD aims to increase its operations in the country and especially to support small and medium-sized enterprises, but not only.
Indeed, Morocco is facing a 26,5% youth unemployment rate “we will launch tailored financial programmes for women and youth” reassured Suma Chakrabarti.
The EBRD operates in Morocco since 2012. For the past decade, the Bank has supported close to 400 Moroccan small and medium-sized enterprises.
