Sultan of Oman visits Qatar to strengthen bilateral ties

The Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tarik, began a visit to Qatar on November 22, the first to Doha and the second abroad, since taking office in early 2020.

The Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that the country’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad was at the reception of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik upon his arrival, accompanied by his delegation at Doha Airport today to a two-day state visit.

For its part, the Omani News Agency (ONA) reported that Sultan Haitham was visiting Doha at the invitation of Emir Tamim.

She noted that Qatari Air Force fighter jets escorted Sultan Haitham’s plane as it entered Qatari airspace.

The same source added that the visit will include discussions between the two leaders, and that it will strengthen the distinguished and strong relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the brother state of Qatar with a view to strengthening bilateral relations.

The agency noted that the Sultan is accompanied, during this visit, by a high-ranking delegation which includes Deputy Prime Minister of Defense Affairs Shihab bin Tarik, Foreign Ministers Badr Al Busaidi, Finance Sultan Al Habsi, of Labor Mahad Bawein, of the Royal Court, Khalid Al Busaidi, of the royal cabinet Sultan Al Numani, as well as the head of the Omani investment authority, Abdul Salam Al Murshidi. .

Last July, the Sultan of Oman paid a visit to Saudi Arabia. It was his first trip abroad since taking office on January 11, 2020, succeeding the late Qabus ibn Said.
