"The budget for defense industry projects has increased from 5.5 to 75 billion dollars," a figure just announced by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

President Erdogan delivered a speech on January 6 at the inauguration of a new arms factory in Ankara, the Turkish capital.

“The budget for defense industry projects has increased from 5.5 to 75 billion dollars and the annual turnover of the sector has increased from 1 to 10 billion dollars,” said the head of state Turkish.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan recalled that Turkey is seeking to produce its weapons locally to no longer be dependent on third countries, addressing the American refusal to deliver the F-35 fighters for having purchased a Russian S-400 air defense system.

“We have carried out the HISAR air defense system project, soon the SIPER project will see the light of day and even more advanced technology” said Erdogan before adding that Turkey is now among the top three producing countries of military drones .

“In terms of the defense industry, we are present in all technological fields,” he said.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan assured that the Turkish fighter will make its first flight in 2025 and that it will take place in the inventory of the Armed Forces from 2029.

“Our national fighter jet will roll out of the hangar in 2023 and be visible to the world,” he said.
