The 2nd Policy Brief produced by FEMISE and The Next Society entitled "From Refugee to Restaurateur: A Syrian Entrepreneur's Path to Success in Jordan", by Marah Jamous, West Asia and North Africa Institute (WANA) presents some of the challenges facing Syrian refugees in Jordan through the eyes of a young Syrian refugee who was able to join the Jordanian job market through a joint venture with a Jordanian partner and launch a restaurant. Jordan: Focus on the Amal project to fight unemployment among women and youth
Jordan has a high unemployment rate, especially among women. Only 14% of women of working age are economically active. The unemployment rate among women is 25%, twice that of men. In the face of these difficulties, they remain hopeful ("Amal" in Arabic). This is the name of a project that aims to fight unemployment, especially among the most vulnerable.
BUSINESSMED partner with UfM to address increasing skills challenge in the Med region through Social Dialogue practices
8 july 2021: BUSINESSMED, with its expertise on the promotion of social dialogue, partnered with the Union for the Mediterranean UfM to improve the involvement of Social Dialogue when addressing the challenges that labour markets face in the Mediterranean region. In this framework, along with other partners, they co-organized an open dialogue event in order to address the increasing skills challenge in the Mediterranean region through Social Dialogue practices.
