On the occasion of the CONNEXT exhibition held in Milan in early December, BUSINESSMED presented Business Country Desk (BCD), a platform that aims to stimulate regional economic development and establish strategic and sustainable networks in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Report.

Digitalization combined with globalization is the current megatrend that is impacting the international business landscape and creating opportunities for new business models. The adoption of digital technologies enables rapid internationalization and opens up new opportunities for SMEs to grow and succeed in foreign markets and be drivers of inclusive growth.

Convinced of the need to rethink SME development strategies focused on digitalization, BUSINESSMED has developed an intuitive digital tool, called Business Country Desk (BCD), whose ultimate goal is to stimulate regional economic development and establish strategic and sustainable networks in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

After a cycle of online presentations focused each time on the business ecosystem of a specific country, BUSINESSMED has moved to the second stage by organizing a regional presentation session to economic operators participating in the 2021 edition of the MED BUSINESS DAYS held in Milan on December 2 and 3 in the margins of CONNEXT.

The online portal shows its relevance, especially after the outbreak of the Covid-19 crisis, in efforts to strengthen business resilience, given the heavy economic impact of the pandemic that hinders competitiveness and business continuity.

The Business Country Desk represents not only a real catalyst for the engagement of all partners at the local, national and regional levels, but also a privileged space for the promotion of talent, internationalization and the private sector in the Mediterranean region, focusing on innovation and sectorial approach as key priorities for the coming years.

High-level panelists from the European Commission, ILO and ITC highlighted, through their interventions, the role of digitalization as a driver of internationalization.

The session outlined the purpose and potential of the BCD, as well as its history and the regional economic context related to the birth of the idea of this platform, conceived and shaped by BUSINESSMED in 2007.

This regional presentation was organized in the framework of the EBSOMED project, co-financed by the European Union.

The platform is in the installation phase and registration will open in February 2022.
