Is Morocco on the way to normalizing its ties with Israel?

Based on the current situation between the two countries, such a move is possible. Indeed, the two countries have already established tourist and commercial links. On the other hand, Morocco is known for its efforts to welcome and protect the small Jewish community there.

Indeed, approximately 3,000 Jews live in Morocco, the largest community in the Arab world.
To illustrate Morocco’s relations with the Hebrew community, in recent years programs to renovate Jewish neighborhoods and cemeteries have been implemented under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.

Beyond a common history, the normalization of relations could be a decisive factor in improving trade with the United States.
Indeed, normalization could encourage Washington to recognize the sovereignty of Morocco over the disputed territory of Western Sahara, parts of which Rabat has regularly annexed since Spain’s withdrawal in 1975, and without official international recognition.

In fact, Rabat maintains close links with Tel-AViv in the field of intelligence and the Shereefian kingdom is considered an ally of the Americans in the area.
And since the start of the year, Benjamin Netanyahu has been trying to put together such a tripartite agreement and would have prompted Washington to promote it, but the Trump administration has yet to give the green light.

With the momentum given by the United Arab Emirates, it seems more and more likely that such an agreement will emerge and it is legitimate to wonder whether we are not currently witnessing the beginning of a movement of appeasement of the region.
