Qatar's Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abderrahmane Al Thani renewed his country's support for the Palestinians and emphasized his steadfast position in favor of the Palestinian Cause.
This is what was relayed on Twitter on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The Minister said: “We renew, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Qatar’s steadfast position in favor of the Palestinian Cause and support the right of the brother Palestinian people to establish an independent State whose the capital is Jerusalem “.
On November 29 of each year, movements of solidarity with the Palestinians are organized in many countries of the world to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, established by the United Nations in 1977.
Last October, the Qatari government viewed Israel’s decision to build thousands of settlement units in the occupied West Bank as “blatant disregard for international law and the resolutions of international legitimacy.”
The Qatari Council of Ministers called, in this context, for urgent and firm international action to end Israeli colonization in the occupied Palestinian territories.
He stressed that the establishment of settlements constitutes one of the greatest obstacles to the achievement of peace as well as a threat leading to the dissolution of the two-state solution. Also, it is an obstacle to the resumption of the peace process based on international decisions and on the Arab initiative for peace.
The Council reaffirmed Doha’s united and steadfast position for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In October, Israel approved the construction of 4,948 new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, in the West Bank, as part of the largest settlement process since the start of this year.
