Ecoppia has been offering robotic solar panel cleaning solutions around the world since 2013. The company, which claims to have saved 6 billion liters of water, has just set down in Africa.
In Egypt, robots will be used to clean solar panels at the Benban complex with a combined capacity of 1,650 MW. Ecoppia Scientific, the Israeli supplier of cleaning robots, has announced that it has signed an agreement for the deployment of its equipment.
The Benban power plants are, in fact, built in a rather particular environment which requires regular cleaning in order to preserve them from the dust and sand of the desert. Avoiding the clogging of the panels is an important condition for the optimal functioning of the plants.
The robots that will be supplied by the Israeli company to Egypt are Ecoppia T4s which are autonomous, operate without water and are energy independent. They are managed without human intervention by a cloud-based control system.
